2026年2月10日、米国ニューヨークのストーンウォール国定公園において、長年掲げられてきたプライドフラッグが連邦政府の方針により撤去されました。私たちTransgenderJapanは、今日のLGBTQ+権利運動へ至る“始まりの地”におけるこの暴挙に対し、深い憤りとともに断固たる抗議を表明します。
1969年のストーンウォール・インの暴動を歴史に刻むために国定公園となったこの場所は、世界中のLGBTQ+コミュニティにとって「抑圧に対する抵抗」と「誇り（Pride）」の象徴です。この地からプライドフラッグを降ろすことは、単なるルールの変更ではありません。私たちの存在と私たちが積み上げてきた歴史を公の場から抹消しようとする、極めて差別的な行為です。
米国の主要なLGBTQ+団体（GLAAD、HRC等）が指摘している通り、「プライドフラッグを降ろすことはできても、私たちの歴史を消すことはできない」のです。日本に拠点を置く私たちにとっても、この度の事態は決して対岸の火事ではありません。人権と多様性を軽視するこうした逆行の国際的潮流は、日本を含む世界中のクィア・コミュニティに負の影響を及ぼします。
私たちは、アメリカの現地で抗議の声を上げているクィアコミュニティの諸団体と連帯し、以下の通り要求します。
プライドフラッグの即時復掲：歴史的意義を尊重し、旗を元の場所に戻すこと。
歴史の不可視化の停止：公共の場におけるLGBTQ+の存在を認めること。
私たちは、いかなる抑圧にも屈せず、誰もが誇りを持って生きられる社会をめざし、国内外の仲間と共に声を上げ続けます。

Stonewall National Monument and Demand for its Immediate Reinstatement

On February 10, 2026, the Pride Flag, which had flown for many years at the Stonewall National Monument in New York, USA, was removed following a change in federal government policy. We, TransgenderJapan, express our deep indignation and firm protest against this ultimate outrage at the “birthplace” of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.
This site, designated as a National Monument to memorialize the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots, serves as a global symbol of “resistance against oppression” and “Pride” for the LGBTQ+ community worldwide. Removing the Pride Flag from this hallowed ground is not a mere administrative change; it is a profoundly discriminatory act that seeks to erase our existence and the history we have built from the public sphere.
As leading U.S. LGBTQ+ organizations (such as GLAAD and HRC) have pointed out: You can take down a flag, but you cannot erase our history. For those of us based in Japan, this situation is not unrelated to us. This international regressive trend of disregarding human rights and diversity casts a negative shadow over queer communities worldwide, including in Japan.
In solidarity with the various organizations raising their voices in protest on the ground in the United States, we demand the following:
- Immediate Reinstatement of the Pride Flag: Respect the historical significance of the site and return the flag to its original location.
- An End to the Invisibility of Our History: Acknowledge the presence of LGBTQ+ individuals in public spaces.
We will not yield to any form of oppression. We will continue to speak out alongside our allies, both domestic and international, striving for a society where everyone can live with pride.
